DID YOU KNOW.........
Events and weddings are everywhere and everyone would like to think they are planners, but did you know that there are several things that sets apart professional planners? Below are some of these things:
1. Investigate Wedding Blackout dates
Get to know ahead of settling on your dates when there are major functions happening around that day. You don't want to get stuck in traffic because of a demonstration or have the presidential entourage getting you delayed for your wedding, or guests for a major conference may affect the availability of the venues you would like .
2. Listen to mother nature
Know the season's weather and be keen on any weather forecast. Guests are known to either leave early or stay longer based on the weather of the day. Also note that there are some seasons when there are bugs and other insects that swarm various areas. These will guide in determining whether the event can be an outdoor one, an indoor one or a combination of both. Also this may determine what to put in gift bags should your event require that you give a gift bag
3. The Guest list comes first!
Once you have determined your date you now need to know the number of guests are expected for the function before you begin to look for a venue. This will ensure there's enough space for the guests plus all the service providers. As a rule of thumb, allow for 25 to 30 square feet per guest. That may seem like a lot, but it's not if you count the space you'll need for the tables, bustling waiters, the band, and the dance floor.
4. Ask and You might receive
When you have identified a venue, make sure to ask for your heart's desires, throw in that honeymoon suite, that extra cocktail, that red carpet, that extra screen for your function, that cake for the sweet toothed groom........ask for everything you might want before you sign that contract. This ensures that you get as close to your dream event as possible Most vendors would rather secure the reservation than nickel-and-dime you early on and turn you off. Later on, though, they may have less of a motive to meet you halfway
